Seacoast Shootout Rules

In general, we follow most National Federation of High School rules with the following exceptions.

1. Games will consist of two 16 minute halves with a five minute intermission. Games are regular "stop on the whistle"  time.  There are no situations where running time will occur.

2. Coach’s get two full and two 30 second timeouts, one additional 30 for overtime.

3. Overtime will be three minutes.

4. Two foul shots be awarded on the 10th team foul as well as all shooting fouls. There are no 1 + 1 free throws.

5. There is no reduced time for younger ages or 25 point mercy rule.

Home teams (listed first on the schedule) will be responsible for game ball and official scorekeeper. Officials may change either, if in their judgment they should.

There is no designated home bench. First coach to arrive gets choice or the coaches can decide by a coin flip. Home teams should wear white.

Teams must clean their bench area of trash and personal articles after each game.

Games do not start early unless both teams are present, including coaches and at least one substitute and officials are present.

If appointed timer is not present (he/she may be working on another court) the officials will ask either team to provide a fill-in.

If teams are late we’ll deal with the reason first and make sensible adjustments.

There will be no forfeits without approval of tournament director, or designee.

Coaches, players and spectators must adhere to the judgment of the officials. Technical fouls, ejections and possible forfeiture can result if necessary.

Any player ejected must sit out the next game as well.

Any coach ejected must meet with the tournament director to determine if they will be allowed to coach the next game.

Any spectator ejected will not be re-admitted for the remainder of the tournament. Refusal to leave the premises will result in the team forfeiting the game and police will be contacted.

Good sportsmanship is a requirement, not a request!
