Shootout
This year the Seacoast Shootout Girls AAU Basketball
Tournaments will again be held in Durham, NH on the campus of the University of
New Hampshire, at the beautiful Whittemore Center. Durham is about ten
miles west of Portsmouth, NH on Route 4. The tournament committee has been
running these tournaments for eleven years.
The sponsoring club for all three tournaments this year is
The Renegades, a co-ed AAU club from the Durham area. These tournaments
will be AAU sanctioned. The cost $425 for four guaranteed games. A deposit of
$195 will hold your place until final payment, which is due three weeks prior to
the tournament.
The Whittemore Center has five wooden courts with three
others across the street in the Lundholm Gym and another at the brand new Oyster
River High School, one mile away.
This is one of the nicest AAU venues in the Northeast.

Seacoast Shootout I will be on the weekend of
Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, 2009.
Seacoast Shootout II will be on the weekend of
Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21, 2009.
Age groups scheduled are 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.
Nine year old teams will be accepted if they are capable of playing at the 10’s
level. The 16 age level will also accept 17’s. Strong teams may elect to enter
at an older age level. Teams will play two games each on Saturday and Sunday.
Local teams may elect to play on Friday night and only play one game on Sunday.
Teams that go 4-0 on the weekend will receive t-shirts
or medals. Teams travelling from out of state may make requests for later start
times on Saturday and every effort will be made to meet those requests.
Coaches having more than one team should have an
assistant or backup coach in case of conflicts, if attempts to schedule
different game times are not successful.
The Seacoast Shootouts have been run for eleven years
with the same management group at this venue. Many former players have gone on
to college stardom at Division I, II and III levels and many of those former
players are now college or high school coaches. College coaches are often in
attendance and are always welcome at the Seacoast Shootouts. The Seacoast
Shootouts are always sanctioned by the AAU. The venue is not air conditioned.
The registration fee for the Seacoast Shootouts is $425
per team, per tournament. There are no discounts for multiple teams. Officials
are high school officials from New Hampshire, Maine or Massachusetts scheduled
by an assignor. Several teams return to these tournaments year after year, and
they draw clubs from all six New England states as well as New York. We have
even drawn teams from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
There are no host hotels for the Seacoast Shootouts,
however there are two hotels in Durham and several others in neighboring Dover,
Portsmouth and Newington. Portsmouth is a tourist attraction and the entire
area has many great restaurants.
There is an admission charge for spectators with
reasonable weekend rates and a modestly priced concession stand.
