Welcome to
the home of the 2011 Seacoast Shootout
For both
tournaments teams may opt for a Friday night game if they prefer, but there are
no guarantees. Teams playing on Friday will only have one game on Sunday.
Teams entering from out-of-state may make requests for later starting times on
Saturday. An effort will be made to honor such requests, but there are
no guarantees.
Age groups
for both tournaments will be 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17. 9’s may need
to play up with the 10’s and 17’s may be combined with the 16’s depending on the
number of entries. Strong teams may elect to enter at an older level. Many
teams enter both weekends.
Teams that
are 4-0 for the weekend will receive t-shirts or medals. Coaches with more than
one team should be prepared to have someone cover for them if they are coaching
in one game when their other team has to begin play in a game on another court,
or if it is not possible to schedule different game times.
The
Seacoast Shootouts have been run for 14 years with the same management team, and
in this venue with clubs coming from all six New England states as well as New
York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and even Ontario. College coaches
are often in attendance and are always welcome at no charge.
The
registration fee has been increased slightly this year due to the increase costs
to run the tournaments. Our fee is very fair when many tournaments charge the
same fee for 3 games when you get to play 4 in ours. There are no discounts for
multiple teams or trade-offs with other tournaments. Officials are high school
referees and are assigned by a head official, separate from the tournament
committee. The courts are not air conditioned.
There is
no host hotel that teams have to stay in. Durham has a Holiday Inn Express and
there are many hotels in Dover, Portsmouth and Newington that are just a few
minutes from UNH. The area also has many fine restaurants and shopping
centers. Portsmouth is a tourist attraction. Hampton and Rye Beach on the New
Hampshire coast as well as York, Wells and Ogunquit in Maine are excellent beach
areas.
The
tournament has an admission charge for spectators with a reduced weekend rate.
The concession stand is very moderately priced.
